The Pilgrims Progress

The Pilgrim’s Progress is a 3d animated film done mostly in Costa Rica by Herald Entertainment and Cat in The Mill. In which I was part of the preproduction team in early 2015 and then Art Director for a few scenes in late 2018 close to the end of postproduction on a very tight schedule.

My tasks were:
-Enhance visual impact with better scene colors and compositions.

-Guidance of 3D and VFX teams to texture and model assets for the remaining scenes.

-Lead Team into one direction based on directors guide.

-Design assets needed to complete assigned scenes.

-Design and supervision of mattepainting needed for new scene on the film.

Early Preproduction

Celestial City Scene

Tasks started by receiving the latest 3d block in of the scene. It needed a proper colorscript and new assets for its completion as well as some key art and concept art.

Gates design
Garlands designs

Clouds, wall material and lightning were some of the key areas to solve to be able to sell the desired look.

The process included the supervision of a mattepainting for the city. It needed building design, 3d modeling, texturing, block in, rendering and final composition of the assets.
